The Friends of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and the St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation Department present the annual Natural History Speaker Series (NHSS), a program that offers fascinating presentations on the natural and cultural history of Florida by individuals who are authorities in their fields. NHSS programs are offered the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Hammock Hall, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve.

Human-Wildlife Woes and Their (hopefully peaceful) Solutions presentation by Jeanne Murphy, Senior Wildlife Biologist, Sensing Nature, LLC
February 8, 2024 at 7 p.m.

Sometimes it seems that urban critters are chuckling behind our backs as they slyly outwit our every move. Their cunning ways are reflected by fruit rats breaking into our attics, birdseed being devoured by squirrels, frogs belting out love songs all night, or clever raccoons tipping trash. Come learn a few tricks from our speaker that should help you keep your sanity while also helping you appreciate their wily ways.

Speaker Bio: Jeanne Murphy co-owns Sensing Nature, a Florida environmental education, ethical tourism and nature products company, where she is a Senior Wildlife Biologist with over 25 years of experience. She holds a B.S. in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois and enjoys connecting people with natural Florida. She provides outdoor experiences for youth, adults, and families.
